Tribute to Dr. Tariq Masood: Cricket Exhibition Match

DODA, May 05:- To pay tribute and homage to the legendary Cricketer and Rtd DHO Doda Dr Tariq Masood for his remarkable contribution to the game of cricket, the District Health Society in collaboration with District Administration Doda host one day cricket exhibition match in his memory at Sports Stadium Doda today under Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, in which SDH Bhaderwah team thrashed DHS Doda by 04 wickets.

Earlier before the start of the match, the event was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner Doda Sh. Harvinder Singh, IAS, along with CMO Doda Dr Om Kumar, Inam ul Haq (Son of Late Dr Tariq Masood) and other dignitaries, whereas a two minutes silence was also observed as a mark of respect to the departed soul.

The District Health Society Doda team was led by Harvinder Singh, who is Deputy Commissioner Doda, while the SDH Bhaderwah team was led by Captain Dr Mohd Ashraf (BMO Bhaderwah). Earlier, SDH Bhaderwah after winning the toss elected to the field first.Batting first, DHS Doda was all out for just 91 runs in 13.4 overs. Ashok Shan was the top scorer with 23 runs, while Harvinder Singh scored 13 runs to the team.

From SDH Bhaderwah, Naveed Khan scalped 3 wickets, while Dr Subhash Sharma and Kulwant Singh shared 02 wickets each.In reply while chasing the allotted target, SDH Bhaderwah super striking first batting order and with the help of some middle order batsman helped the team to achieve the target with one over left by losing their 06 wickets. Dr Touseef Malik was the highest scorer from who made 20 runs while Dr Mohd Ashraf and Arshad Zaffar contributed 19 and 14 runs respectively.

From DHS Doda, Irshad Malik grabbed 03 wickets while Jahangir Mehta and Ajay Singh shared 01 wicket each. Naveed Khan of SDH Bhaderwah was declared as Man of the Match for his brilliant all-round performance.The prize distribution ceremony was attended by ADC Doda Sh Sudershan Kumar, CMO Doda Dr Om Kumar, Chief Accounts Officer GMC Doda Sh Mohd Iqbal Ganai, BMO Ghat Dr Ab Gafoor, EO MC Doda Sh Amit Sharma, BMO Bhaderwah Dr Mohd Ashraf.
