Singer Billie Eilish and her brother, co-writer, and producer Finneas O’Connell triumphed at the Oscars 2024, securing the Best Original Song award for the ‘Barbie’ soundtrack’s “What Was I Made For?”. The song, also featured in the Greta Gerwig-directed movie, resonated with Eilish, prompting a positive shift in her perspective.

The Academy shared the exciting news on X (formerly Twitter), announcing Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell’s victory in the Best Original Song category for “What Was I Made For?” from ‘Barbie’. The post highlighted the duo’s success at the Oscars, adding to their list of accolades.

‘Barbie’ received multiple nominations at the Oscars, including Best Picture, Supporting Actor, Supporting Actress, Adapted Screenplay, Costume Design, and Production Design. The soundtrack’s viral hit, “I’m Just Ken” by Ryan Gosling and Mark Ronson, was also nominated for Best Original Song.
Last month, “What Was I Made For?” clinched the Song of the Year at the Grammys, while ‘Barbie’ secured wins for Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media and Best Song Written for Visual Media, according to Variety.
The Oscars 2024 ceremony, currently streaming live on Disney+ Hotstar, continues at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles.
