JK Anticipate Light Snowfall and Rain Starting March 12
While the weather department has forecasted a series of rains and snow from Monday to March 14, there has been a notable drop in night temperatures recorded in Srinagar and other regions on Saturday.
JK Anticipate Light Snowfall:Gradual Buildup of Weather Activity
“No significant weather activity is expected till March 10. However, from March 11-12, there’s an anticipation of light rain and snow at a few places, followed by a likelihood of light rain and snow at fairly widespread places on March 13-14,” stated a MeT official.
JK Anticipate Light Snowfall:Srinagar’s Chilly Night
Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, experienced a minimum temperature of minus 0.2°C, significantly lower than the previous night’s 1.8°C. This deviation of 3.5°C below normal for this time of the year marks an unusual cold spell, as per the MeT official.
JK Anticipate Light Snowfall:Varied Temperature Readings Across Regions
Qazigund, the gateway town of Kashmir, recorded a minimum of 0.4°C, maintaining consistency with the previous night. However, it registered a deviation of 1.8°C below normal.
Pahalgam, a famous resort in south Kashmir, witnessed a low of minus 3.5°C, slightly below the previous night’s temperature. The deviation of 2.1°C below normal adds to the chill factor in the region.
Kokernag, also in south Kashmir, noted a minimum of 1.3°C, indicating a rise from the previous night’s 0.5°C. However, it remained 0.6°C below the normal temperature.
Kupwara town experienced a low of minus 1.3°C, showcasing a decline from the previous night’s 1.1°C. This marks a substantial deviation of 3.1°C below the normal temperature.
Gulmarg, the renowned skiing resort in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, recorded a low of minus 6.0°C, reflecting a slight increase from the previous night’s minus 7.6°C. Despite this, it remains below normal by 2.5°C.

Jammu, the winter capital of J&K, recorded a minimum temperature of 10.4°C, indicating a deviation of 3.6°C below normal.
Banihal recorded a low of 5.8°C, Batote 6.2°C, and Bhaderwah 2.0°C, according to the weatherman. The forecast suggests mainly dry weather in Jammu and Kashmir until March 10.
