Modi Unveils Mata-Vaishno-Devi Railway Station
In a landmark decision, the Mata Vaishno Devi Railway Station, situated in Katra city, Reasi district, Jammu and Kashmir, is set to undergo a substantial redevelopment at an estimated cost of 40 crore rupees. This transformative step aims to enhance existing facilities and introduce new amenities, aligning with the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. Under this initiative, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the redevelopment of 553 railway stations nationwide, with a staggering budget exceeding 19,000 crore rupees.

Addressing a gathering at the event, Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh emphasized the significance of including Mata Vaishno Devi Railway Station in the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. He highlighted the special focus and priority given by Prime Minister Modi for the development of this region. Dr Singh recalled that Katra station was among the first to introduce the Vande Bharat train and the pioneering station in the country to unveil a solar power facility.

As part of the ambitious endeavor, not only Katra station but three other key railway stations, namely Udhampur, Jammu, and Budgam, will also undergo redevelopment as Amrit Stations. This underscores the commitment of Prime Minister Modi to the overall development of Jammu and Kashmir. Katra station is poised to emerge as an inter-modal station, seamlessly integrating rail, road, and air transport for enhanced connectivity and convenience.

Dr Singh applauded Prime Minister Modi’s transformative leadership, noting a paradigm shift in citizens’ mindsets since his assumption of office. The Union Minister emphasized the equal opportunity provided to every citizen and region for development and welfare, transcending barriers of religion, caste, or region. He highlighted the eradication of corruption and nepotism and the rekindling of hopes, enabling individuals from diverse backgrounds to dream big and participate in prestigious examinations.

On the same occasion, Prime Minister Modi laid the foundation stone, inaugurated, and dedicated 1500 Road Over Bridges and Underpasses to the nation, aiming to enhance safety, connectivity, and efficiency of rail travel. Among them, a project costing 49 crore rupees will be implemented in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. With a total cost of approximately Rs 21,520 crores, these projects span across 24 States and Union Territories, furthering the goal of a developed and connected Bharat.
