Assam Chief Minister Unveils Plan to Safeguard Cultural and Spiritual Institutions

Land Deeds for Religious and Educational Institutions Under Mission Basundhara 3.0
In a significant development, land pattas (deeds) will be granted to religious institutions, educational institutions, and Anganwadi centres as part of the state’s Mission Basundhara 3.0. Chief Minister Sarma, speaking at a function in Dhola, emphasizes the government’s mission to provide land deeds to deserving beneficiaries by 2026. The move aims to prevent any genuine citizen from being deprived of legal rights over their landholdings.
Distribution of Land Deeds in Sadiya and Doom Dooma
Chief Minister Sarma actively participates in the distribution of land deeds to beneficiaries in Sadiya and Doom Dooma. During his visit, he lays the foundation stones for projects totaling Rs 116 crore in Sadiya and Rs 80 crore in Doom Dooma. The projects include road improvements, community halls, skill centres, and water supply projects, contributing to the overall development of the regions.
Mission Basundhara 3.0: Addressing Challenges and Simplifying Processes
Acknowledging the challenges faced during Mission Basundhara 2.0, Chief Minister Sarma assures that Mission Basundhara 3.0 will address and resolve difficulties encountered by the people. The government plans to simplify the mission, making it more accessible for indigenous landless people to gain land rights. Sarma emphasizes the government’s commitment to individual land rights and the allocation of land pattas to socio-cultural institutions.
Advantages of Digital Land Deeds and Socio-Economic Initiatives
Chief Minister Sarma highlights the advantages of digital land deeds, emphasizing their role in providing easy access to patta owners through digital lockers. He reflects on the government’s relentless efforts to bring socio-economic, academic empowerment to Assam through various initiatives, including Orunodoi, microfinance loan waivers, ration cards, health insurance, and transparent government jobs.
Empowering Indigenous Population and Mission Basundhara’s Impact
Despite 70 years since Independence, a significant portion of Assam’s indigenous population lacks land deeds. Sarma underscores the importance of Mission Basundhara, aiming to address land documentation issues for indigenous families. He outlines initiatives for the socio-economic upliftment of tea-growing tribal communities, such as increased wages, reservations in government services, and commitments to their overall welfare.
