Illegal Afghan Resident Arrested in Mumbai: Deceptive Claims Unraveled
The Mumbai Crime Branch has apprehended Zaheer Ali Khan, a 38-year-old Afghan national residing illegally in the Wadala area of Mumbai for the past 17 years. Initially presenting documents, including a PAN card and driving license, in the name of Zaheer, claiming Indian citizenship, Khan’s misleading information was exposed during a thorough interrogation by the Mumbai Crime Branch Unit 5.

Deceptive Citizenship Claims Unveiled: Rigorous Interrogation Leads to Confession
Upon receiving information about illegal Afghan nationals in Wadala, the Mumbai Crime Branch took action, detaining Khan for questioning. Despite his initial claims of Indian citizenship, intensive interrogation revealed the truth. Khan confessed to being an Afghan citizen and admitted to living in Mumbai since 2007. Subsequently, the police seized key documents, including an Afghan passport, PAN card, identity card, and vaccination certificate from his residence.
Legal Action Taken: Accused Remanded in Custody Until February 26
Following the arrest, the case was promptly presented in court, resulting in the accused, Zaheer Ali Khan, being remanded in police custody until February 26. Further investigations and legal proceedings are underway to address the implications of his illegal residency in Mumbai.
