Firefighters Battle Uncontrolled Blaze Threatening Patagonia Towns
In Patagonia, Argentina, firefighters are grappling with an “out of control” blaze in Los Alerces National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The fire has already consumed approximately 600 hectares (1500 acres), posing a threat to two nearby towns. Despite efforts, the fire remains uncontained, exacerbated by unfavorable conditions marked by strong winds and high temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Celsius (104 Fahrenheit).
Rescue workers in Chubut province are working to prevent the flames from reaching Esquel and Trevelin, highlighting the challenging situation in a region unaccustomed to such extreme weather conditions.
