The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed on December 5, 2023, with Kenya in the field of sharing successful digital solutions implemented at population scale for digital transformation. The MoU aims to foster closer cooperation and exchange experiences in the implementation of digital transformational initiatives in both countries.

The MoU, effective for a period of 3 years from the date of signature, was signed between India (Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology) and the Government of the Republic of Kenya (Ministry of Information, Communications, and Digital Economy). It focuses on enhancing bilateral cooperation in Business-to-Government (B2G) and Government-to-Government (G2G) collaboration in the field of Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI).

The collaboration is expected to lead to improved cooperation and employment opportunities in the field of information technology. India, having demonstrated leadership in implementing Digital Public Infrastructure, seeks to share its experiences and expertise with other countries, fostering global cooperation in the digital sector. The India Stack Solutions, representing DPIs, aim to enhance connectivity, promote digital inclusion, and provide seamless access to public services.
