Asus ROG Phone 8 Series Set to Debut: Specifications and India Launch Revealed
The highly anticipated Asus ROG Phone 8 series is poised for its unveiling at the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2024. Leaks have hinted at two models – the ROG Phone 8 and the ROG Phone 8 Pro, following the predecessor’s pattern of a base and a higher-end ‘Ultimate’ variant.
Recent design leaks of the ROG Phone 8 series have emerged, teasing an ‘edgeless frame.’ Asus India has officially announced that the ROG Phone 8 will launch in India on January 8, coinciding with its global debut at CES 2024. The teaser video accompanying the announcement showcases a display with notably slimmer bezels compared to earlier models, hinting at a more immersive screen experience. However, clarity on the release of the ROG Phone 8 Pro in India remains absent.
Expectations from these devices include an Android 14-based ROG UI, 6.78-inch full-HD+ AMOLED panels fortified with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection, and HDR10 support for the Pro variant with a refresh rate of up to 165Hz.
Asus has confirmed that both ROG Phone 8 models will house Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC. The base model might offer configurations of up to 12GB RAM and 256GB storage, while the higher-end variant is speculated to present choices of 16GB and 24GB RAM with 512GB and 1TB storage capacities.
The Pro version is anticipated to showcase a triple rear camera setup featuring a 50-megapixel Sony IMX890 primary sensor, a 13-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 32-megapixel telephoto shooter. Additionally, it may boast a 32-megapixel front camera. However, specific details about the base model’s camera setup remain undisclosed.
Both models are rumored to carry 5,500mAh batteries supporting Quick Charge 5.0 and PD charging, along with potential IP68 ratings for dust and splash resistance, enhancing their durability in varied environments.
