Budgam Police Disrupts Seven-Member OGW Module
On Thursday, Jammu and Kashmir Police reported the dismantling of an over-the-ground worker module in Beerwah, located in the central Kashmir district of Budgam.
According to a police spokesperson, the Budgam Police successfully disrupted a module consisting of seven individuals from the Beerwah area. These individuals were allegedly engaged in spreading anti-national terrorist propaganda by placing posters in and around the Beerwah locality.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Romain Rasool Sheikh, Irfan Nazir Sheikh, Rizwan Nazir Sheikh, Sahil Javid Sheikh (all residents of Bonet Beerwah), Jahangir Bashir Mir, Tariq Ashraf Sheikh (both residents of Utligam Beerwah), and Shakir Lateef Pathan (resident of Gandhipora, Beerwah).
The statement indicates that the module was led by Romain Rasool Sheikh and Irfan Nazir Sheikh, who were allegedly manipulated by a handler associated with the militant group LeT (Lashkar-e-Taiba), based in Pakistan. The investigation revealed that the duo, acting as local motivators, instructed the other five individuals to carry out assigned tasks. Incriminating evidence has reportedly been recovered from the arrested persons.
The police statement concludes by stating that the investigation into the case is currently underway.
