J-K-Police Intensifies Efforts Against Attackers; IGP Urges Vigilance and Celebrates Top Recognition
On Thursday, Vidhi Kumar Birdhi, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) for the Kashmir Zone, affirmed the relentless efforts of the Jammu & Kashmir Police in tracking down the assailants who targeted police personnel in the Valley.
The IGP emphasized the importance of police officers exercising utmost caution both on and off duty, urging them to stay vigilant and thwart the designs of militants. He acknowledged the perpetual challenges faced by law enforcement in dealing with attacks on policemen but highlighted the existence of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) formulated by the department to counteract the intentions of terrorists. “SOPs should be strictly adhered to, and we are actively identifying the culprits involved in these attacks. Investigations are underway, and the individuals responsible for such acts will soon face justice,” stated IGP Kashmir.
Celebrating a notable achievement, the IGP mentioned that Shergadi Police Station has been recognized as one of the top three police stations in the country. Expressing pride in this accomplishment, he affirmed the commitment of the J&K Police to serve the people of Jammu & Kashmir and eliminate impediments hindering the smooth growth of society. “We consider it a great achievement and a moment of pride for all of us. J&K Police is dedicated to delivering its best in the service of the people,” he added.
Addressing the ongoing battle against drug-related issues, the IGP highlighted the police’s specific focus on tackling the drug trade. He noted that individuals involved in this illicit trade have been apprehended, and those identified as notorious figures have been subjected to the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT NDPS) act. The IGP affirmed the police’s commitment to combating the menace of drugs in the region.
