Lok Sabha Passes Bills to Replace Key Criminal Laws
On Wednesday, the Lok Sabha passed three significant bills aimed at replacing the Indian Penal Code, Code of Criminal Procedure, and Indian Evidence Act.
During the debate on these bills, Home Minister Amit Shah asserted that the legislations align with the principles of the Constitution.
The bills in question are the Bharatiya Nyaya (Second) Sanhita 2023, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha (Second) Sanhita 2023, and Bharatiya Sakshya (Second) Bill 2023, which aim to substitute the IPC, CrPC, and the Evidence Act, respectively.
