Delhi’s Mayor Faces Facebook Account Hack, Second Instance in Less Than a Year
Shelly Oberoi, Delhi’s Mayor, has encountered a digital setback as her Facebook account remains inaccessible following a reported hacking incident. The Mayor alerted her followers and the public via ‘X’ social media platform, cautioning them to remain vigilant regarding any unusual activities stemming from her compromised account.
Officials from the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) revealed that Oberoi’s Facebook account fell victim to a cyber breach approximately four to five days ago, and despite extensive efforts by the technical team, the account remains unrecovered.

This occurrence marks the second instance within a year where Oberoi’s Facebook account has been targeted. A similar incident occurred around six to seven months ago, but on that occasion, successful account recovery was achieved.
As of now, no unauthorized posts or activities have been identified from the compromised account. However, if restoration attempts continue to prove futile, the MCD is prepared to file a formal complaint with relevant authorities. Instances like these serve as a stark reminder of the persistent threats existing in the digital sphere, emphasizing the necessity for heightened vigilance in our increasingly digitized world.
