A historic five-day session of the parliament is underway, with a range of critical topics and discussions taking center stage.
BJP Leaders Speak in Special Parliament Session
Union Minister Piyush Goyal, Laxmikant Vajpayee, Sudhanshu Trivedi, Radhamohan Das Agarwal, and other BJP leaders are actively participating in the ongoing special parliament session. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to address the Lok Sabha around 11:15 am.
Opposition INDIA Bloc Leaders’ Meeting
Leaders of the opposition INDIA bloc gathered at Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge’s Office to strategize ahead of the special five-day parliament session that commenced at 11 am. The agenda of the session was discussed in detail, with both government and opposition parties expressing their perspectives.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister on the Agenda
Pralhad Joshi, the Parliamentary Affairs Minister, emphasized that the government has made its agenda clear for the special session. Responding to questions from the opposition about future plans, Joshi stated, “We have communicated our agenda. The opposition keeps asking what will happen tomorrow and day after. We have made the agenda clear from our side at the all-party meeting. Now what can we do if they keep imagining things?”
Controversial Bill on Election Commissioner Appointment
Sources revealed that the list of eight bills presented to the opposition during Sunday’s all-party meeting did not include the controversial bill regarding the appointment of top election officers. The government is considering amending the bill, officially titled “The Chief Election Commissioner and other Election Commissioners (Appointment, Conditions of Service and Term of Office) Bill.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to speak on this bill in the Rajya Sabha, further emphasizing its significance.Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also address mediapersons at the Parliament complex at 10:30 am. The parliamentary proceedings in both houses began at 11 am with a discussion on the 75-year journey of the Parliament. This discussion will encompass achievements, experiences, memories, and lessons learned from the Constituent Assembly till the present day. Lok Sabha Speaker and Rajya Sabha Chairman will be the initial speakers in their respective houses, followed by government representatives.
