Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann Fined Rs 50,000 at Delhi Airport Over Alleged Undeclared Goods
NEW DELHI, October 21, 2026 [VoM News]: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann was fined Rs 50,000 by customs authorities at Delhi Airport after allegedly carrying undeclared goods while returning from France on Tuesday night, according to media reports.
Mann, accompanied by his staff, was reportedly passing through the Green Channel when customs officials stopped him and examined his luggage. Sources cited in reports said some luxury goods had not been declared, following which customs duty and a penalty were imposed.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), however, accused the authorities of deliberately humiliating the Punjab Chief Minister.
AAP Punjab media in-charge Baltej Pannu alleged that Mann was detained at the airport for around three hours before being issued a Rs 50,000 challan. He further claimed officials had acted under pressure. Authorities had not immediately publicly responded to those allegations.
Mann had travelled to France to promote Punjab’s agricultural and food-processing products and explore international trade opportunities.
During his visit, he inaugurated a MARKFED stall at the SIAL Paris international food exhibition and launched new products under its SOHNA brand.
The incident also triggered a political exchange, with AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj criticising the Centre, while Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia alleged that Mann and his wife had violated customs rules.
