Lightening hits Tamil Nadu; 2 died &18 injured
A sudden and tragic incident in Keeranur village, located in the Madurai district of Tamil Nadu, unfolded as a group of individuals sought refuge from heavy rain beneath a tree. However, an unforeseen lightning strike turned this shelter into a scene of disaster, resulting in the loss of two lives and injuries to 18 others.
Victims Identified
The two unfortunate victims of the lightning strike were identified as Agniraja (25) and Selva (23), who tragically lost their lives in the incident.
Fatal Lightning Strike
Madurai Superintendent of Police, R Shiva Prasad, reported the distressing event, stating that a lightning strike claimed the lives of two individuals and left 18 more injured in the Madurai district. The injured were swiftly transported to hospitals for treatment. Six of them received medical attention at the Madurai Government Hospital, while the rest were taken to the Sivagangai Government Hospital for further care.
Seeking Shelter Turns Tragic
The incident unfolded as a group of individuals sought shelter from heavy rainfall by congregating under a tree while en route to join a funeral procession. Unfortunately, the sudden lightning strike during this tragic gathering took an unexpected and devastating toll.
The hearts of the affected families and the community at large are heavy with grief as they grapple with the loss of lives and the injuries sustained during this tragic incident.
