YouTuber Dhruv Rathee Reportedly Detained Ahead of CJP Protest in Delhi
NEW DELHI, October 10, 2026 [VoM News]: YouTuber and social media personality Dhruv Rathee has been arrested from his home in Gurugram’s Sector 56 by the Delhi Police on Saturday morning ahead of a planned protest at Jantar Mantar against the Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, police sources say.
The Delhi Police reportedly rushed to Rathee’s home and arrested him after enhancing security in the area ahead of a demonstration called by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP). CJP was outraged by the reported detention and issued a protest call to Rathee’s immediate release.
In a video on X, Rathee had said that he would participate in the protest on Saturday, on Friday. The staunch critic of Narendra Modi government Rathee is said to have arrived in India from Germany earlier this week and joined a demonstration by CJP in Bengaluru on October 8.
Earlier, Delhi Police had refused to grant permission for the protest at Jantar Mantar stating that it was in the line of duty and procedural norms.
Over 400 people were reportedly detained overnight as preventive measures were stepped up in the national capital. It was said that over 20,000 police and paramilitary officers were deployed as well as other security measures that impacted on the railway and Metro services.
CJP supporters were gathered and mobilised to attend the protest against the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
The arrest of Rathee and the extent of the curbs were yet to be confirmed by independent officials.
