Iran Reviewing US Peace Proposal, Response Expected Within Days: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi
TEHRAN, October 8, 2026 [VoM News]: Iran is reviewing a US peace proposal aimed at ending the ongoing conflict between Washington and Tehran and is expected to respond within the next few days, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said, indicating that diplomatic negotiations remain underway through intermediaries.
According to Iran’s Tasnim News Agency, Araghchi said that negotiations were ongoing, with both sides continuing to exchange information through intermediaries.
Araghchi said that the negotiation process was ongoing and that messages were being exchanged between the parties through intermediaries.
Tehran has already presented a proposal described as a “seven-day plan” and is currently reviewing Washington’s position on the matter.
“We presented our proposal, which we called the ‘seven-day plan’, and we also heard the views of the American side,” Araghchi said.
“We are currently reviewing the American perspectives, and I believe we will provide our response within the next few days,” he added.
Diplomatic channels remain open despite the ongoing conflict. However, neither side has announced a formal agreement, and details of the American proposal have not been disclosed.
Meanwhile, Pakistan and Bahrain have called for restraint, de-escalation and diplomacy, emphasising the importance of maritime safety in the Gulf region.
Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Bahrain’s Foreign Minister Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani discussed regional developments during a meeting of the Pakistan-Bahrain Joint Ministerial Commission in Islamabad on Thursday.
According to a statement issued by Pakistan, both foreign ministers emphasised the need to ensure the safety and freedom of navigation through the Straits of Hormuz and Bab al-Mandeb.
Both maritime routes are strategically important for international trade, energy supply chains and global food security.
The ministers exchanged views on the evolving situation in the Gulf region and stressed the importance of restraint, de-escalation, dialogue and diplomacy to prevent further tensions.
Dar reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to playing a constructive role in supporting diplomatic efforts aimed at restoring peace and stability in the region.
These developments come amid ongoing international diplomatic efforts to negotiate an end to the conflict between the United States and Iran, with attention now focused on Tehran’s expected response to Washington’s latest proposal.
