Doda MLA Mehraj Malik Alleges Withdrawal of Escort, Driver and PSOs; Says “J&K DGP, LG Will Be Held Responsible”

DODA, September 30, 2026 [VoM News]: Doda MLA Mehraj Malik has alleged that his security cover has been progressively withdrawn, claiming that he is now without an escort, official driver and Personal Security Officers (PSOs).

In a statement posted on social media platform ‘X’, Malik wrote that his escort was withdrawn earlier, while his driver was taken away before the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly session. He further alleged that the two PSOs provided to him were withdrawn from Srinagar on Tuesday.

“I am the only MLA in J&K without escort, driver and PSOs,” Malik claimed.

The Doda legislator also questioned the basis for the alleged withdrawal of his security personnel, claiming that the Director General of Jammu and Kashmir Police had earlier cited the security situation while withdrawing his escort.

Malik alleged that the decision effectively suggested that other MLAs faced security threats while he did not. He said that if any untoward incident happened to him, he would hold the J&K Police leadership and Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha responsible.

There was no immediate official response from the Jammu and Kashmir Police or the Lieutenant Governor’s administration to Malik’s allegations.
