32 Roads closed In Himachal, power supply disrupted as rain lashes the state

Heavy rain continues to affect Himachal Pradesh, leading to the closure of 32 roads and disruptions in 26 power supply schemes, officials reported on Thursday. The downpour has lashed various parts of the state, with Kalpa recording the highest rainfall at 30.4 mm since Wednesday evening.
Other regions, including Sangla, Nichar, and Moorang, also experienced significant rainfall, ranging from 11.5 to 26.2 mm. Manali, Kufri, and Keylong saw lighter showers, measuring between 3 and 4 mm.
On Thursday morning, Mandi saw 11 road closures, Kangra had 10, Shimla and Kullu each had 5, and Sirmaur had 1 road shut due to heavy rains.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a ‘yellow’ alert for thunderstorms and lightning on September 25, urging people to stay cautious.
The IMD’s warning system uses four color codes, with yellow indicating “watch and stay updated.”Despite the ongoing rains, the state is facing an 18% deficit in rainfall this monsoon, receiving only 572.9 mm against an average of 701.7 mm from June 1 to September 19.
Since the onset of the monsoon on June 27, rain-related incidents have claimed 173 lives, and 31 people remain missing. The state’s total losses have reached Rs 1,331 crore, officials said.
Efforts are ongoing to manage the situation and mitigate further damage caused by the unpredictable weather.
