In a significant political development, leaders from various political parties, along with hundreds of their supporters, made a decisive move to join the Congress party in Jammu. This mass migration of political leaders underscores the changing political landscape in the region, with JKPCC working president Raman Bhalla at the helm of the transition.
A Warm Welcome to New Members
Raman Bhalla extended a warm welcome to all the new members and urged them to actively engage with the Congress party’s policies by reaching out to the people at the grassroots level. This move not only strengthens the Congress party’s presence but also enhances its outreach across the region.
Prominent Joinings
Among the notable individuals who joined the Congress were Dev Raj Bhagat, the District Vice President of the Aam Admi Party, Yashpal, the Town President of the Aam Admi Party, and Capt. Bodh Raj, the Zone President of the Aam Admi Party. Others who made the transition include Sohan Lal, Somnath, Bhushan Kumar, Mulkh Raj, Ashok Kumar, Satpal, Mangat Ram, and Darshan Lal Bhagat, a retired JK Bank Manager from Bishnah.
Public Anger Against BJP Policies
During the event, Raman Bhalla addressed the growing public discontent with the policies of the BJP government in Jammu and Kashmir. He alleged that the current administration, which he deemed “anti-people,” has left every section of society disillusioned. He called upon the people to unite and work towards removing the “anti-people” BJP government in the upcoming Assembly elections. Bhalla emphasized that the adverse impact of BJP’s policies is felt by all sections of society, particularly the underprivileged, due to the misrule of both the Central and LG Administration, both led by the BJP.
A Call to Join Congress for Upliftment
Bhalla urged the people to join the Congress party, highlighting that Congress leaders have dedicated their lives to the upliftment of the masses in India, especially the poor. He accused the BJP government of deceiving the people of Jammu and Kashmir with false claims of development. Bhalla criticized the BJP for not addressing the basic needs and problems of the people during their tenure, which began in 2014. He argued that BJP’s governance mainly revolved around generating divisions along religious and regional lines, causing people to suffer without solutions to their problems.
Demand for Immediate Restoration of Statehood
Expressing disappointment over the BJP government’s handling of Jammu and Kashmir, Bhalla pointed out issues such as nepotism and favoritism in the selection process for various posts. He stressed that the top priority for the Union Government should have been the swift restoration of Statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, which would have paved the way for the resumption of democratic processes in the region.
The mass joining of leaders and supporters from various political backgrounds represents a significant shift in Jammu’s political landscape, setting the stage for the upcoming elections and reshaping the dynamics of the region.
