Prime Minister Modi’s Vision for Indian Olympics at the 141st IOC Session
Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the 141st International Olympic Committee (IOC) Session held at the Jio World Centre in Mumbai. This IOC Session gathers members of the International Olympic Committee to make significant decisions about the future of the Olympic Games.
Prime Minister Modi expressed India’s eagerness to host the Olympics in the country and its determination to prepare for the successful organization of the 2036 Olympics, a dream shared by the country’s 1.4 billion citizens. He also expressed India’s willingness to host the 2029 Youth Olympics and anticipated continuous support from the IOC.
In his address, Prime Minister Modi highli ghted the profound significance of sports in India’s rich history and cultural fabric. He noted that sports are associated with nearly all of the country’s festivals, emphasizing the universal spirit of sports. He underlined that in sports, there are no losers; there are only winners and learners, empowering humanity and transcending boundaries.
India’s Ambition to Host the Olympics and Promote Sports
India’s second-time hosting of the IOC session, after a 40-year gap, reflects the nation’s commitment to promoting sports and international cooperation. The event was attended by the President of the International Olympic Committee, Thomas Bach, and other IOC members, alongside prominent Indian sports figures and representatives from various sports federations, including the Indian Olympic Association.
The IOC session was graced by the presence of renowned actors Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Deepika Padukone, who attended the event at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre in Mumbai.
