Jadeja and Axar Shine as India Takes Commanding Lead Against England in First Test
Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel dominated the third session on Day 2 of the first Test against England at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, making the English spinners work hard. By the end of the day, India had posted a formidable total of 421/7 on the scoreboard, securing a lead of 175 runs. Jadeja and Axar remained unbeaten with scores of 81(155)* and 35(62)*, respectively.
In contrast to the left-handed duo’s strong performance, England’s best spinner turned out to be Root. He made an impact early on by dismissing Jaiswal in the very first over and came close to dismissing KL Rahul for a duck. Root further trapped Bharat for LBW and successfully induced some half-committed shots from the Indian batters. Despite England’s efforts, India ended the day in a commanding position.
