The night temperatures in Srinagar and various parts of the Kashmir Valley experienced fluctuations, with a notable drop to the season’s lowest at minus 8.0°C in Gulmarg, the renowned skiing resort, on Monday.A spokesperson from the meteorological department reported that Srinagar’s minimum temperature today was 0.5°C, showing an increase from the previous night’s minus 0.5°C. This was 2.0°C above the normal temperature for the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir.

Qazigund registered a minimum temperature of 0.8°C, compared to 0.0°C the previous night, indicating a 1.6°C above-normal temperature for this gateway town in Kashmir.Pahalgam, the famous resort in south Kashmir, recorded a low of minus 5.8°C, a decrease from the previous night’s minus 1.5°C, and was 1.4°C below the normal temperature.

Kokernag, located in south Kashmir, reported a minimum temperature of 1.1°C, up from the previous night’s minus 0.8°C, with a temperature 1.7°C above normal for the area.In north Kashmir, Kupwara town saw a low of 2.2°C, slightly above the previous night’s 1.1°C, and 0.2°C above normal.Gulmarg, the world-famous skiing resort in north Kashmir, experienced a low of minus 8.0°C, a notable drop from the previous night’s minus 4.8°C, with the temperature 3.2°C below the normal range.

Jammu recorded a minimum temperature of 6.1°C, a decrease from the previous night’s 7.1°C, and 2.8°C below normal for the winter capital of Jammu and Kashmir. Banihal recorded 3.4°C, Batote 1.7°C, and Bhaderwah minus 0.2°C, according to the official.

The meteorological department forecasts generally dry and cold weather in Jammu and Kashmir until December 22. On December 23, the weather is anticipated to be generally cloudy, with the possibility of light snow over isolated higher reaches.

From December 24-28, the weather is expected to be generally dry, with no significant weather activity projected until December 28.
