Foundation Stone Laid for Central Research Institute of Yoga & Naturopathy in Dibrugarh
Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways and Ayush, Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, along with Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, laid the foundation stone for the Central Research Institute of Yoga & Naturopathy (CRIYN) and a 100-bedded Yoga and Naturopathy hospital in Dihing Khamtighat, Dibrugarh. The project, developed over nearly 15 acres at an investment of Rs 100 crore, aims to synergize traditional knowledge of Yoga and Naturopathy with modern technology.
Objectives and Focus of the Institute
The state-of-the-art institute will set benchmark standards in education, preventive healthcare, and research in Yoga and Naturopathy. It will focus on fundamental aspects and scientific validation of traditional systems of medicine through evidence-based research. Additionally, the institute will function as an international collaboration center for global promotion and research in Yoga and Naturopathy.
Incubation Centers for Startups and Multinational Collaboration
Apart from its primary functions, the institute will serve as an incubation center for startups in the Yoga and wellness sector. The minister highlighted that it would offer clinical training facilities to train experts in areas like cardiac rehabilitation, diabetes rehabilitation, autoimmune diseases, and non-communicable diseases (NCDs) risk reduction. The institute also aims to develop evidence-based protocols for managing NCDs, integrating Yoga and Naturopathy with conventional care.
Healing Touch for the Region and Beyond
The hospital associated with the institute will provide inpatient services, offering Yoga and naturopathy protocols to enhance the quality of lives. The initiative aligns with the vision of building a Swastha Bharat (Healthy India) and contributes to India’s economic rationale. The event witnessed the presence of several dignitaries, including Union Minister of State Rameswar Teli, the Minister of Health & Family Welfare of Assam, Keshab Mahanta, and other officials.
