BMC sets up second girder linking Mumbai Coastal Road to Bandra-Worli Sea Link
Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], May 15 (ANI): Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s Mumbai Coastal Road Project successfully installed a second large Bow Arch String Girder connecting the Mumbai Coastal Road and the Bandra-Worli Sea Link here on Wednesday morning.
The work was carried out under the guidance of Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Bhushan Gagrani and Additional Municipal Commissioner (Eastern Suburbs) Dr Amit Saini.The girders installed were placed on the route from Nariman Point to Worli.
Each girder weighs 2,500 metric tons and measures 143 meters in length, 31.7 meters in width, and 31 meters in height. The BMC took to its official social media handle to inform about the same and posted on X, “BMC’s ambitious Mumbai Coastal Road Project successfully installed a second large Bow Arch String Girder connecting the Mumbai Coastal Road and the Bandra-Worli Sea Link in the early hours of today, May 15, 2024.
The work began at 3 am and was completed at 6:07 am.””It was challenging to install this second girder just 2.8 meters away from the first girder installed earlier. The work was carried out under the guidance of Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Bhushan Gagrani and Additional Municipal Commissioner (Eastern Suburbs) Dr Amit Saini,” it added.
Managing Director of Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Smt. Ashwini Bhide, Additional Municipal Commissioner (City) Dr Ashwini Joshi, Deputy Municipal Commissioner (Special Engineering) Chakradhar Kandalkar, Chief Engineer (Mumbai Coastal Road Project) Girish Nikam, Deputy Chief Engineer Mantaiah Swami, President of HCC Ajit Gulabchand, along with officials, engineers, and other staff of the Mumbai Coastal Road Project were present on the occasion.
The BMC further said that the next phase of the Mumbai Coastal Road Project will commence soon after completing the remaining works.The Mumbai Coastal Road (MCR) project, spearheaded by the BMC installed the first bow arch string girder that connected the Coastal Road to the Bandra-Worli Sea Link earlier on April this year.
