Amit Shah Unveils Vibrant Village Program for Border Areas
Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced the ‘Vibrant Village’ program, covering 3,000 villages in 19 border areas, emphasizing their role as the first village of the country. Addressing special guests from these villages on Republic Day eve, Shah highlighted the program’s three objectives: phased development, preventing migration, and preserving local culture. In the initial phase, 662 villages with a population of 1,42,000 will benefit from a Rs 4,800 crore investment. The ‘Vibrant Village’ initiative aims to enhance connectivity, infrastructure, and basic facilities over the next decade in border areas.
Key Highlights:
- Strategic Border Areas Covered: The program encompasses 19 border areas in Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Ladakh, focusing on holistic development over ten years.
- Development Investment: Shah emphasized that Rs 4,800 crore will be spent on the first phase, covering 662 villages. Roads with an outlay of Rs 2,500 crore are a significant part of the infrastructure development.
- Reducing Migration: One of the goals is to curb migration from border villages by providing essential facilities, fostering local development, and preserving cultural heritage.
- PM Modi’s Vision: Shah highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment to ensuring 100% saturation of over 220 government schemes in the ‘Vibrant Village’ areas, promoting comprehensive rural development.
- Republic Day Special Guests: Panchs, Sarpanchs, and residents of the ‘Vibrant Villages’ were special guests for Republic Day celebrations, witnessing the parade on Kartavya Path.
- Cultural Integration: Shah stressed the importance of bridging the gap between border villages and Delhi, fostering a sense of unity and development in these strategic areas.
The ‘Vibrant Village’ program seeks to align with the government’s broader vision of inclusive development, ensuring that no citizen, especially those in border regions, is left behind. Special guests from the ‘Vibrant Villages’ participated in various Republic Day events, reinforcing the government’s commitment to their well-being and development.
